A Feasibility and Implementation Plan for a multi-city bikeshare system in St. Tammany Parish will be developed using a Two Phased Approach. The approach will evaluate the potential for implementing bikeshare and will make recommendations for the final implementation size and model, bikeshare equipment and technology, and the ‘action path’ to move this alternative transportation option forward within the Parish. The primary focus area for this study will be in municipalities of Covington, Abita Springs, Mandeville, Madisonville, Lacombe, and Slidell.
TASK 1: PROJECT FACILITATION & OUTREACH:
A series of public and individual meetings to understand the local context, opportunities, and challenges for the program. The experiences of bikeshare systems as experienced across the country including economic, health, transportation, environmental, and other benefits will be shared. Please complete the online survey and provide feedback on the interactive mapping feature.
FINAL STUDY WILL BE RELEASED
TASK 5: IMPLEMENTATION PLAN:
If, by the local leadership, the plan is deemed feasible to accomplish with the service area(s) this project will proceed with the initial steps required to take the bikeshare system from the plan to the system launch. This includes implementing the final recommendations of the plan, procuring the funding including marketing and sponsorship packages, initial specific site research, structuring final agreements, government affairs, and continually communicating with local stakeholders regarding progress.
